Weird tips

There’s a load of wacky ideas out there that people have used to help them get through their exams.

They might work for you – why not give them a go.

1. Leave revision cards all round the house

The stairs, the bathroom, next to the TV – pick anywhere you’re likely to have dead time.  That way you’ll always have something useful to learn.   remember that you need to switch off sometimes though.

2. A large bar of chocolate

Put a bar of chocolate or some other treat in the next room while you’re revising.  If you reckon you’ve done a good job, then reward yourself for your efforts with the choccy.

3.  Act out your revision

One of the best ways of remembering something is to act or dance it out.  If you can reinforce ideas with gestures, this might help you remember what you’ve studied.  You might get some pretty strange looks from passers by though.

4.  Sing things you need to learn

The human brain has a great capacity for remembering music – tunes and lyrics.  If there’s something really important you want to remember, why not sing it to a tune you know.  Just be careful to keep your voice down in the exam when you’re trying to sing it back.

5. Tell someone how your revision is going

Telling a friend or family member what you are planning to do in your revision timetable and then reporting back what you actually achieved can be a good way of keeping your revision programme going when it starts to get tough.

6. Turn revision into a quiz

For a bit of light relief, have a quiz with your friends about your studies.  It’ll be fun.

7. Use your video recorder

If the time you usually set aside for revision clashes with something you want to watch on TV, then record it.  Revision comes first and you needn’t miss out.
